The DP-900 exam is designed for anyone getting started with Microsoft Fabric. It validates your understanding of core data concepts, considerations for relational data on Azure, considerations for working with non-relational data on Azure, and an analytics workload.

DP-900 is for students, career changers, business analysts, and managers who need a first grounding in cloud data. That includes people in professional services, the public sector, and corporate data teams.
DP-900 is a fundamentals credential, not a job title. Holders are often junior data analysts or people moving into Azure data roles. As of 2026, US data analyst medians are around $80,000 to $85,000. UK data analyst and Power BI analyst medians are about £32,000 to £52,500. German data analyst medians are around €50,000. The exam does not have its own salary band.
You will find websites selling exam dumps or brain dumps that claim to be real DP-900 questions. Those materials are not official. Microsoft treats using brain dumps as cheating. It can invalidate your score, revoke certifications you already hold, and ban you from future exams. Microsoft publishes a free Practice Assessment for DP-900 on Microsoft Learn. Those questions are examples only, not the live exam. MeasureUp also sells the official practice test linked in the study resources on this page. You can try the Microsoft exam sandbox to see the question types and timer, but it does not use real exam questions. Practise the skills measured in a real product environment rather than memorising leaked items.

Depending on the exam, a trial licence could include demo data to practise with, but this is not guaranteed and Microsoft often changes its policies about free trials with demo data.
