You need Python, Microsoft Foundry, Azure compute and data services, and familiarity with MCP, RAG, and frameworks such as Agent Framework or LangGraph. Microsoft awards the expert credential after you also hold AI-103. The exam is in beta; beta sittings are not scored until general availability.

AI-500 is an expert design and implementation exam. Microsoft does not publish a stable list of which exams include labs. For practice, build multi-agent workflows in Microsoft Foundry with MCP tools, Agent Framework, and Azure compute. Official instructor-led AI-500 training delivered by a Microsoft Learning Partner includes labs. Those labs are for the course, not a copy of the exam.
